6th grade math is a year of taking everything students have learned thus far, and finally putting it all together. Teachers strive to help students see the real-life application of math skills in today's world. I remember my teachers saying, "You NEED to memorize how to do this because you won't be walking around with a calculator in your pocket when you're older!" Little did they know about the evolution of cell phones. Our job, as educators, has changed from teaching students a canned curriculum, to teaching them how to use the tools they have available to them to be successful in a dynamic world. Scientific calculators are amazing tools that are used throughout a student's upper-level education. Your generous donation will allow me to purchase a class set of these calculators for my students to learn how to use, giving them a "leg up" on successfully understanding the math they master today, and in years to come. These calculators will help students calculate science, engineering, and mathematics problems. They are equipped with special buttons for parentheses, trigonometric functions, exponents, inverses of trigonometric functions, and pi.
