The donations will help keep students participating in all activities even when they do not have the materials. For example, 75% of our 6th graders have not had swimming lessons when they enter middle school. We do swimming lessons and swim safety for all of our students. Many students do not have a swim suit or an extra towel at home to bring to school. We collected donations of all sizes of swim suits and towels for students to use. Currently, PE teachers bring home and wash 3-5 loads of swimming laundry daily during the swimming unit to ensure the supplies will be available for the next day. By using a washer and dryer at school, teachers will be able to wash throughout the day instead of bringing it home. This will take a big burden off teachers. Donating to our project eliminates the barrier for any student who does not have the gear to participate in a variety of activities. Students will be able to exercise in all weather conditions. During the cold Minnesota winter, it will allow for clean and dry snow gear. Many students do not have warm gloves, hats, snow pants and winter coats. We have accumulated these items, but need to wash them daily to keep kids moving outside in the beautiful winter weather. Please help us get a washer and dryer to keep our kids moving with clean gear.
