I think it is so important for students to gather at the rug every morning in order to greet each other, share about themselves, and have fun doing an activity that helps them get to know each other. I also like to use the rug as a movement break. I like to teach my mini lessons at the rug, then have students work independently or in groups at their seat, and come back to the rug and share the work that they have done. Having a rug will make it nicer to come together as a class. It will encourage my students to bond and become closer.
