If my project is fully funded, I will incorporate these items into daily life in my classroom. This will allow for students to use these items to help regulate their bodies. This also helps to regulate emotions. Emotions can be overwhelming for all of us, especially kids on the spectrum. Many students require what could seems like overwhelming stimuli to us, in order to calm their body's physical response to intense emotions. On the flip side, some students need extra supports to block out sensory input that seems minimal to use, but can completely overwhelm their bodies. Being able to regulate will help them to stand out less and make wise behavioral choices as well as social and academic gains. Not to mention, it impacts their ability to focus and learn new concepts, as well as perform at their true ability level with preciously mastered skills.
