These materials will be used in several different art projects, all led by an amazing retired art teacher, Charlotte Canning! All students deserve a well-rounded education with quality visual art instruction! Students will use quality materials to bring true art education to their experience as sixth graders. Students will use inspiration from abstract art by Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, Georgia O'Keefe, Jacob Lawrence, and Wassily Kandinsky. Their art learning will be integrated with both writing and music instruction, as they study the history of jazz music during art classes. By focusing on abstract art, students will move past their need for realism and discover the artists inside themselves!
