In order for these little learners to understand concepts and new vocabulary they need to touch, manipulate, move, and explore. Animals toys will be used for theme-based lessons and any story that has an animal. Construction sets will be used in our block center, giving the little ones an opportunity to build, put together, and take apart. Little people toys are favorites of my students. Add a few boxes and we have a doll house! These items will enhance lessons and engage the children by promoting learning through doing. Stories will be more engaging and learning centers will offer theme based toys! The materials will also help me assess newly acquired knowledge when I see the children at play, demonstrating (re-enacting) what was taught.
