Children who are unable to communicate verbally or physically should be provided with other options, including the opportunity to communicate visually. Visual communication is not a simple process, nor does it involve a simple system. The hardware required for an eye gaze system includes the eye tracker and a laptop. The most important pieces of hardware in building an eye gaze system are the Tobii Eye Tracker, a sensor that communicates with the laptop to determine where a person is looking, and the Surface Pro 6 Laptop. This provides the user with the ability to control the computer with the eyes when hands or voice is not an option. Together, along with other software, the Tobii Eye Tracker and Surface Pro 6 will allow a student to accomplish many tasks. The student will be able to be introduced to the system by playing simple games. As the student acclimates to the system, he/she will use more advanced programs and will ultimately utilize the device for communication purposes.
