Our students are using a program to become better readers. Many of our students are English Language Learners and newcomers. The software that we are using will allow students to hear the text being read which is extremely empowering. Often times students understand a word when they hear it. In addition, when students can hear how a word is supposed to sound they learn how they should use the word when they speak. Since we have 30 students in a room at a time having headphones will help students not disturb their neighbors. Also having a microphone will allow students to record themselves reading so that we can memorialize their progress.
