My third-grade students truly enjoy hands-on activities. Teaching in Camden, NJ, I quickly realized my students have a minimal amount of "outside" knowledge. The passion I have for traveling excites my students; when I tell them stories they wanted to learn more. When I described cities, states, and countries, I was shocked when my students barely knew where they are located. My students had a hard time connecting locations of places to the real world. Their lack of knowledge was not their fault, it is merely the lack of exposure. My project is to create and provide real world knowledge that is exciting and fun to learn.
