I want my students to experience the joy of a shared reading experience. I want them each to have their very own copy of the book Sarah, Plain and Tall to keep forever. This book will be used for a read aloud in our classroom. We will be focusing on figurative language which is so beautifully displayed in Patricia's writing. We will study similes, metaphors, personification and new vocabulary. Historical fiction is a new genre for many of my students. This experience will also have a positive impact on student writing. It will serve as a mentor text for students.
