Author Kathrine Applegate wrote a book called "Wishtree". Red is the neighborhood "wishtree"--people write their wishes on pieces of cloth and tie them to Red's branches. Red has seen it all...until a new family moves in. Not everyone is welcoming, and Red's experience as a wishtree is more important than ever. I would like to start a "wishtree" tradition for my students. After reading and discussing the book in the library, I would like to plant a red oak tree on the playground and complete the tradition of writing wishes on (bio-degradable) ribbons and tying them to the tree.
