They say that Geometry is a different kind of math because it deals with pure ideas that eventually evolve to concrete objects. It needs a lot of visualizing so as to fully understand each geometric concept. That is why they say that Geometry is a tricky and hard subject to understand. As part of learning Geometry, it is very essential that students are equipped with necessary geometric power tools so they would be able to visualize and concretize the geometric ideas. The drawing tools (pencils, paper, and grid papers), geometric material sets (compass, protractors, and rulers) and the geometric 2D and 3D manipulative sets would make my students more engaged and motivated as they explore, form and manipulate the simplest dimension up to complex concept in Geometry. The puzzles and brain teasers, on the other hand, would surely develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. With these materials, they will surely be able to see things from a different perspective, as they say thinking outside the box. Students' spatial capability will stretch out to their best potential and at the same time, they will learn to strategize, which is finding an easier way to answer a particular problem. It will surely sharpen their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. When these necessary skills are honed, it would be easier for my students to learn and enjoy Geometry.
