Our students come to us with a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Some of these experiences are good, while others are very traumatic. Due to traumatic experiences, children often have difficulty regulating their emotions on a day to day basis in the classroom. As a result, students typically need a break from the event or situation that is escalating their behavior. While these breaks can be very effective, the result from missing class is that they also miss out on instruction and learning. My goal is to provide every classroom, resource, and specials teacher with a "self-regulating calm-down kit" so that students have an opportunity to regulate their emotions without being sent to the office or other classroom to calm down.

About my class
