Writing is an integral part of the Pre-K classroom. Every day, I model writing for my students through shared or interactive writing. I am currently using a children's easel to conduct a writing lesson. I have to drape the chart paper over the small easel because it does not have hooks to hang the chart paper. It would be very helpful to have a larger easel with hooks that would allow me to hang my chart paper up. The hooks on this new easel would also allow me to conduct various lessons using pocket charts. The magnetic dry erase board will also be very helpful. In Pre-K, we read books that have magnets that go along with the story. This magnetic dry erase board will also enhance the students' literacy block. Students can help put up the magnets relating to the story as I read to them which will make the story more interactive. This will also be great for retelling the story as students are able to put the magnets in the correct order. If I am able to get a new teacher easel, I would then be able to give students the opportunity to use my small easel during center time to promote writing.
