I will teach phonics and basic reading skills, plus basic math addition, subtraction, counting money and telling time using the iPads. All of these skills are skills that my special needs second graders are lacking. They are getting further and further behind their classmates because of a variety of learning disabilities they possess, and this technology would provide the fire they need for learning. Often times they struggle to sit and focus for paper and pencil tasks, but they are completely focused when I get out the old Chromebooks we have, and those rarely work well...four new iPads would excite them for learning! They are all proficient in using computers, and beg to use the old computers we have in our room to practice their skills. The Apps available on Apple iPad would provide an exciting, creative way to learn and also allow them to become even more adept at using technology, which is so important for their future. I taught for 11 years online and just returned to a brick and mortar school. I know I would be able to share all the educational programs available online and in Apps with my students if I just had the devices! Thank you!
