By working in a greenhouse, my students will learn about botany, data collection, and plant care. Students can collect data on plant growth or rainfall. The greenhouse and raised beds will also increase student nature exposure, which tends to have a therapeutic effect. My students live in a food desert; therefore, they do not have access to fresh fruits and vegetables. These materials will allow my students to build an outdoor classroom in which they can grow fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Students will use these fresh ingredients to prepare healthy food options at school. Students will also be allowed to take fresh foods home.
