These books will help expand our classroom library. When students have a multitude of fiction and non-fiction books to choose from they are more likely to be engaged in what they read. Choice is powerful and proven to help students grow as readers. My selection of fiction and non-fiction books will serve the many interests my students have as readers. When students have a full classroom library, with a wide range of titles and interests, they never ask: "What do I do next?" They can't wait to sneak in a few more pages before we start our next activity. Having a library that is rich in different genres and interests will help me grow my students into voracious readers! Finally, the stuffed animal dogs will serve as a surprise when we finish reading "Because of Winn Dixie". My students absolutely love this book! When we finish we will celebrate by holding a dog "adoption" party and each student will end up with their own special reading buddy for the rest of the year. They will be able to cuddle and read quietly to their stuffed dog during independent reading time. Just one more way to foster a love for reading and create positive and lasting memories with great books!
