Our day consists of activities to include all subject areas. To say that we stay busy is an understatement! Many of our lessons are held at a carpet area before students are given the opportunity to return to their seats or other areas of the room to practice new skills. Transitions for these activities, while students move to gather materials from their cubbies, eat up valuable instructional minutes. Using chair storage pockets would greatly help to eliminate wasted instructional time and distractions during transitions while also allowing students to organize their own materials. Due to storage limitations in our classroom, students have to gather materials from several places around the room before they can begin working. Having folders, notebooks, and other materials readily available at their seats would give students more time to focus their attention on learning tasks. Students would also learn to have more responsibility for their own materials by keeping them better organized.
