The teaching tubs provide 3-dimensional items that help students engage in sound lessons while they are learning their initial sounds. The students can pull out one small toy, name it and then identify the initial sound they hear. I've had these buckets provided by prior schools and have seen great results with my students. Another step in our beginning reading is building words. We start with three-letter words like hat. These blocks would be great for a center where a student could pick a picture and then build that word with the blocks. Hearing the magnets click the blocks together, or building a word house can help hold their attention.
