Learning through the history of mosaics, students will use their math skills and art skills designing stepping stones for our school garden. Youth Farm is a locally based organization that works with our academic classroom teachers and students. Incorporating art, architecture, history and math makes for a dynamic lesson enjoyed by many in the community. The stepping stones would be a continuation of the design project as community service. The introduction will be a lesson discussion of Greek and Italian mosaics in years past. We will then explore landscape architecture and the idea of public art where artist are commissioned to create art for a specific place.

About my class
