This year I am striving to bring STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) into my morning and afternoon classes. Preschoolers benefit from STREAM education in ways that translate practically into their educational future. Studies show that STREAM engagement at an early age promotes focus, creativity, and critical thinking skills integral to higher level education at the high school and college levels. By integrating STREAM projects into our center time, I will bring the outside world into our classroom. Tools like a marble run, test tubes, lab coats and a microscope will help create an enriched pre-k STREAM exploratory environment. Having a working science lab as a center will enable my students to create their own experiments and learn the scientific process. We will create a grocery store to learn to count and recognize numbers, shapes and colors. My curious and engaged students will be prepared to take their STREAM education into the real world and their futures!
