My senior English class has surveyed residents at a local memory care facility to learn the music that they listened to "back in the day." By creating individualized CDs filled with that music, and providing residents with CD players and headphones, we hope to tap into the lasting memories that music provides. Based on the documentary, "Alive Inside," this project will apply the proven concept that remembered music sparks activity and interest from memory care residents. My students are in the process of putting together "play lists" for each resident, with the next step being burning a CD for each person to play on a CD player--with headphone listening as an option!
