The selected materials will emphasize critical issues that are present in today's society. The selected books carry complex themes of identity, freedom, and oppression. By examining these issues through the lens of Book Clubs, students are able to take an active role in their own learning. The debates and discussion of how others developed the themes of these books echo in the actions of today's society. The goal of this book club project is inspire a new generation to develop a critical eye in their world around them and to promote peaceful action in everyday life. “Reading is not walking on the words; it's grasping the soul of them.” ― Paulo Freire

About my class
