MY PROJECT Many of our students today are not educated about proper nutrition and proper food handling that would prevent food-borne illnesses. Unfortunately, more of them are getting sick and food poisoned at restaurants, at home, and at school. Providing hands-on and real-world experiences enables them to apply their knowledge and be more responsible with their health. They will not only learn content, they will also learn computer and soft skills. They will be able to navigate on the tablets to learn how to research food, ingredients, recipes, etc. They will see images of how food handlers dress to prep food and speak to those who work with them. Soft skills are very important when working with the public. They need to know how to effectively communicate with others. In addition, I want to use these tablets so they can have fun while learning. We will play games using key terms and phrases. It is my endeavor to not just teach, but inspire my students to have healthy and prosperous lives.
