Students will be visiting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to learn and experience the greatest spectacle in racing! Many of our students have never visited this unique and historical location. They've never had the chance to hear roar of the engines and watch and cars drive over 200 MPH. Students will also visit the Indiana State Fairgrounds to learn about crops and gain an understanding of the food process. Students will have a chance to learn about the history of racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and experience a farm to table pizza opportunity at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Students will be able to watch as engineers work on engines of Indy cars! They will be able to visit the museum and see how Indy Cars have changed over the past 100 years! Students will be able to work on graphing, elapsed time, counting, and sorting by watching the Indy Cars practice! Students will write about their visit and hopefully get to meet the drivers or engineers working on the cars! The trip will connect with our reading module "Dare to Dream". Students will be learning about setting goals and creating solutions to solve problems. At the Indiana State Fairgrounds, students will learn how food gets to their plate. They will learn about the growing process of plants and end their trip by creating a pizza. Students will have the chance to see a side of the fairgrounds they normally don't see during the annual fair. Students will be able to connect their learning to our reading module "Grow, Plants, Grow". We will be discussing the growing process before and after the trip so students are making connections throughout the entire learning experience.
