Music has always been a large part of African and African American culture and traditions. In an attempt to help my students grow more in our African American heritage, I would like to incorporate a music center in our classroom. Nina Simone once said, “Everything that happened to me as a child involved music; It was part of every day life, as automatic as breathing.” Areatha Franklin went on to say, “Music does a lot of things for a lot of people. It’s transporting, for sure. It can take you right back, years back, to the very moment certain things happened in your life. It’s uplifting, it’s encouraging, it’s strengthening.” This is what I want for my students. Please help our classroom by donating to our music center. Thank you in advance for your help.
