We will be using these ukuleles to support multicultural integration. Students will be exposed to the islander culture, as well as authentic islander music through these instruments. These instruments will also replace the current string instruments which are in very poor condition. With the incorporation of these instruments, the teaching of musical concepts, and the use of authentic islander music, children will grow in their understanding of not only the ukulele, but also the rich heritage of the islander culture. Diversity, and respect for all cultures, will be a priority not only for class settings, but for concerts as well.
