Between Shades of Gray is a harrowing, moving account of life in Stalin's labor camps. It's the story of 15-year-old Lina, her younger brother, and their mother, whom the Soviets deport from their Lithuanian home to a Siberian labor camp in 1941. It is an incredible story that draws students in and reveals parts of history that are not often learned. You can help support this collaborative project by funding the novel Between Shades of Gray, which students will read in English while studying World War II in 8th grade History. Later these students will be writing a research essay on the Holocaust in their Grammar and Writing class. By providing this book for our school, you're supporting an ongoing collaborative project.
