I work with children who have a diagnosis of autism, Apraxia, language delay, communication impaired, and speech/language impaired. The Kaufman Cards would benefit my students who are non-verbal, who have limited verbal speech, and who have Apraxia of Speech. I have many students who use an augmentative and alternative communication device and have recently been showing characteristics of Apraxia of Speech. This means that they know what they want to say, but can't program the articulators in their mouth to produce movements needed for verbal speech production. The Kaufman cards would help my children with Autism and Apraxia learn how to verbally communicate. The Kaufman cards are something that my students need in order to achieve their optimum potential and I hope that I can get the funding to aid them in learning to communicate. My district is facing a budget crisis so although they see the potential, they cannot, at this time, allot money for a specialized treatment. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
