My class is piloting the first AP class at my small Title I school. This year we are tackling AP Lang and next year we are adding AP Lit with the same students. My school's first AP Lit class needs access to books that reflect a more diverse selection of topics and authors. My students will have a better selection of texts for the AP test if we branch out and read books that are relevant to our population. We will cover some classics but I want to add the more contemporary work to prepare them for a college-level experience.
