My kindergartners love using white boards for learning. It's a fun and easy for them to show understanding of new concepts and to practice using new skills. Their answers allow me to check for understanding at a glance and lend assistance whenever necessary. When students use white boards they are often 100% engaged in learning and are performing independent demonstrations of personal knowledge. They get so excited to hold up their boards to show their answers and are so proud to demonstrate how smart they are. We use them to solve addition and subtraction problems by drawing our own visual aides, write new words when we add a sound to the beginning or end of a word to make a new word, and illustrate a setting for our response to text writing. Over the years our whiteboards have become stained and/or broken from over use. Crayons, watercolors, and other basic supplies allow students to have the tools to complete assignments that not only help with academic knowledge, but also fine motor development and cognitive function. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
