My students fall in love with The Hobbit every year, but their experience with the book is often undercut by its scarcity of copies in our school. As of right now, we have enough copies for one classroom, and the students cannot take the book home with them for this reason. This limits the amount of time we can devote to analysis and conversation about this incredible work of literature. With these extra copies, students will be able to read The Hobbit at home, and that will create class time to focus on the journey each character takes, the historical context of the novel, and the beautiful symbolism woven into each chapter. Thank you for your time and donations. My students will appreciate the ability to grow as readers with these resources.
