A slab roller will help the students roll out *even* flat pieces of clay. Students can then use the slab they have created to make bowls/plates using a hump/slump mold. Slabs can be used to create tiles, medallions, coasters, and so much more! One project that each school does every year is Empty Bowls, a fundraiser that raises money for local soup kitchens and pantries, students make bowls to donate which are then sold to the community. At the elementary level not all students are throwing on ceramic wheels so the slabs placed over bowl molds and be able to add or carve decoration is an easy way for students to participate in the project.
