Literacy is a crucial development for the musical foundation in a child. My students have gone without a music class from 2016-2018, and this past October, our building was destroyed by a tornado. My students are in need of developing basic music literary skills in all grade levels. This mat will be used for several different engaging stations/games that incorporate various learning styles to help teach note names, solfege, and sight reading. One of the effects of the tornado is the addition of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to our elementary campus. These students will need a place to keep their music binders organized as we go through this transition. Lastly, the behavior charts will reinforce positive behavior in their class.
