We are requesting bean bag chairs, light covers and fitness balls for a calming space. As our school strives to provide inclusive practices for students with special needs, we are challenged to provide more options for them. We provide classroom experiences for students who may have never been included in interactions with their peers. In doing so, some of our special needs students can become overwhelmed with the sensory stimulation a classroom provides. At times, these special needs students need a place to go to decompress and regulate themselves. In turn, the peers need some time away from the special need peers in order to problem solve difficult interactions and learn about differences in others.
