Children need to move, flexible seating allows students to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand. An uncomfortable student is a distracted student. Flexible seating helps make learning fun. If students are more comfortable, it will allow them to stay focused for longer periods of time. This in return will lead to higher academic achievement. These five chairs will be used for active engagement and allow for collaborative learning. 21st century learners are quite different than the standard rows and chair type students of the past. These first five chairs will give us the opportunity to use them as an incentive for positive and appropriate classroom behavior. It will indulge students in learning rather than focusing on classroom discipline.
