I hate starting the day off with worksheets for morning work. It is not exciting for me or my learners. I would rather have them come in and engage in a pre-made, station box filled with an activity to build their academic learning while utilizing and advancing their fine motor skills. Add to this the additional benefit of learning through play and interaction with peers. It couldn't be more perfect for their developmental readiness! Students will string alphabet beads onto pipe cleaners to build site words. They will count plastic frogs onto numbered foam lily pads. Some of them will use play-doh to construct their name on cards or use patterned scissors to cut wiggly lines on cardstock.
