We are changing our curriculum from a grammar focused approach with vocabulary sheets and verb conjugations to story telling and creating. Already we have seen our students laugh more in class, be brave and creative with the new language and meta cognitively acquiring new language. We want to enhance this learning and differentiate our students needs and wants with our first ever Spanish library. It will be a library on a cart so four teachers can share the library; giving students specific days of the week or mornings or after school sessions to read in their second language. This "rolling library" will allow students to explore the Spanish language on their own terms. Research shows that students will retain vocabulary 10 times more with a book than studying vocabulary sheets. This will also allow students to differentiate their learning and expand on vocabulary that interests them with the wide variety of books and topics.
