Dash challenge cards inspire kids to learn the fundamentals of coding through interactive robot games. Kids will learn about loops, events, conditions, sequences and more while they play with Dash robot. The Launcher is a fun accessory that turns the Dash robot into a projectile hurling machine. With the xylophone accessory, Dash can be turned into a one-robot light show and marching band. The challenge cards, launcher, and xylophone will lead kids on fun adventures while expanding their knowledge of block based coding with Dash robot. A project that the Dash coding robot will be used for is designing floats and balloons for a mock Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City. This STEAM project supports 21st century learning through design thinking, coding, robotics, and persuasive/creative writing. During this project students will review the history of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, read/listen to a related picture book, "Balloons Over Broadway", and write a persuasive argument about their float/balloon idea. Students will also design a float/balloon, measure and map out a parade route, construct their design, program robots to navigate the parade from start to finish, and finish by writing about their Thanksgiving Day Parade experience.
