I am a first-year kindergarten teacher at a Title I project-based learning school in Nashville, TN. An important part of our day is free choice centers. Students choose from various activities that support students in literacy and math. Being able to choose their own center helps build independence and keep students invested in their education. Some popular centers are laptops (where students play educational games such as Prodigy and Lalilo), Play-Doh center (where students use Play-Doh and stamps to make letters and words), and ABC center (where students practice sight words by building them in various ways, such as in various colors or by stamping them). It's the middle of the year and our Play-Doh is drying up, our colored pencils are running short, and we just don't have enough laptops for every child to participate in laptop center each week. We'd be grateful to any and all help in refreshing these centers in the new year!
