Caught! is a nine-week forensic science Next Generation Science Standards-based unit. During this unit, we will need a variety of consumables and chemicals to solve the "crime" and become Forensics Investigators! Students will conduct inquiry labs to learn about the nervous system, atoms, molecules, elements, compounds, and mixtures. More advanced chemistry labs using acetone, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar, phenolphthalein solutions, and more will help students understand physical and chemical changes, the Law of Conservation of Mass, chemical reactions, balancing chemical equations, and calorimetry. Our Rookie Forensic Scientists will work in lab groups of 3-4 students to hone their science and evidence collection skills to solve the "crime." Our parents and I would like our 7th-grade science students to have an opportunity to experience an immersive, project-based learning unit. Many parents have generously donated to our unit and we are near our goal! Thank you for considering our request.
