These titles were chosen because they feature strong African American characters. There is a variety of titles that both honor important figures in our history and to promote self-confidence to our diverse school population. By diversifying our library collection we can better serve the needs of our students. It is important for students to be able to relate to the characters in the books that they are reading and hopefully these books will serve as a positive influence for our students. We will also be using a few of the titles to do read-aloud recordings for our students during Black History month.
