One of the most difficult skills to develop in young scientists is modeling. This doesn't mean copying a diagram out of a book, it means creating a system to show how molecules move, how organisms breathe, how genes are copied. Using stop motion will allow students to put their hands on materials, to bring microscopic aspects of biology to life and to demonstrate how these work in living things. The models of the novel Coronavirus have helped us all better understand how to be safe and slow the spread. My students will be able to create similar models to better understand how genes become proteins, how mutations can affect development, and how molecules provide energy.
