The whiteboards in my classroom are not within second grader's reach. A movable easel would allow students to interact during a lesson. It can then be wheeled to the center for further learning. In math, the students will be able to work on problems at the center with the lesson example on one side and center work on the other. Students can work together or alone while practicing their new skills. During Word Work, two students can word simultaneously. Each can practice words and sentences by manipulating magnetic letters. Examples would be vowel pairs, sentence structure, and spelling. The students can develop a graphic organizer to display an understanding of their reading. What makes the easel great is two groups may work, each on their own side with ample space for writing.
