My students are imaginative, creative, and enthusiastic firstgraders with a love of learning. They are developing readers and writers. In my classroom we have enjoyed three chapter books already since the start of the school year. I believe read-alouds are very important as they help students imagine, listen, question, engage, and experience reading through modeling. They enjoy reading books on their own as well, however, being a second year teacher, my library is still growing. Many of my students come from low-income, hard-working families. I want to provide an experience where students can enjoy and escape into a good book with their own personal listening device.
