These materials will allow us to bring art and observation to our playground. Currently, while we continue to increase our experiences with nature outdoors, we are lacking art on our playground. These materials will help us continue with our science observations and art expression that students regularly engage in within the classroom. By observing and recording nature in the outdoors, early childhood students are given the opportunity to increase their wonder, critical thinking skills, and observational skills. The art materials will increase fine motor skills and representational skills which will help improve their writing and literacy. By having two separate easels that can be placed near one another, this allows students to develop their social/emotional skills while also developing collaboration skills. The students already have a great passion for exploration and these materials would contribute to their learning.
