The books chosen for this project will be used in the middle school ELA classroom library for the students to read independently. Titles by Raina Telgemeier, Sharon Draper, and Kwame Alexander, for example, were specifically chosen to appeal to the middle school learners at my school. Students will have access to all the books throughout the day. Students need a wide selection of engaging books to grab their attention and encourage reading. The results of providing a robust classroom library will be higher reading scores and a greater interest in reading overall. This will lead to improved learning in all courses, as well as promote life-long learning.
