This trip will make a difference in our students' lives because students will be working will focus on environmental sciences through conservation. Students will get training from the Oakland Zoo working with tigers, gibbons, and elephants before embarking on a journey 7,500 miles away. My students are empowered, hopeful, and curious to explore on a journey across the world to help conserve different species and environments. Our young people have endured some of life's most difficult challenges while staying resilient and focused so they without questions deserve a chance to change our world. My students continue to dream of doing STEM projects in Thailand and Malaysia because these are the countries that are home to the animals they've chosen to help. Our East Oakland students traveling to Southeast Asia will change their lives and improve our community on levels we're not able to measure.
