My students ask me questions about where places are located, especially when we watch the news and it talks about a place they have never heard of. Having some maps that I can use to show my students where these places are located helps give them that extra bit of knowledge. My hope is as they move up in grades they will become more engaged with the world outside eastern North Carolina. Having this extra teaching tool will allow me to show them places we have talked about in previous lessons and show them how those places and the people who lived there are connected to the people who live there today.
