This year we have implemented an exciting new (to us) online reading program. My students use the Edmark reading program daily. Having headphones would enhance my students reading abilities by aiding them with the program. Headphones will allow my students to hear the prompts the reading program provides. My students are mostly low-income and their families cannot afford to purchase headphones. Students have the capability to do this program independently, but they need headphones to hear the program's prompts. One of the most important things we can teach any child is accountability. This program allows the students to be accountable for their own learning, and it also allows them independence. These are skills that my population does not have a lot of exposure too. I want to support their independence in learning. The headphone will go along way in helping to achieve these goals.
